CLIP OF THE MOMENT: "SHAOLIN INVINCIBLES" AMAZING KUNG FU GORILLAS! (1977)

This is a clip from Cheng Hou's 1977 movie "Shaolin Invincibles" (Chinese title: "Yong zheng ming zhang Shao Lin men") starring Carter Wong and featuring the amazing, ass-kicking gorillas! Does it get much better than this? I ask you?

SHORT OF THE MOMENT: "I CREATED LANCELOT LINK" (UNCUT!)

Jeff Krulik has just made available via Youtube the original, uncut version of the great little documentary short "I Created Lancelot Link". Shot back in 1997 (but released in 1999) by Krulik and Diane Bernard and edited by Mark Zuckerman, the short was sliced up like a banana split for the extra's doc feature on last year's "Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp" remastered DVD release by Film Chest. Film Chest did do a really nice job on that DVD compared to Image's earlier DVD release which was much darker and washed-out looking. But they should've just included "I Created..." as an extra unto itself instead of cutting it up and burying it within the DVD extra's own doc. At the very least they should've made it accessible with a chapter stop. In this day and age there's no excuse for that. One gets the feeling that the makers of the DVD's own doc were trying to reap the benefits of Bernard and Krulik's hard work themselves. Jeff was also the one responsible for pointing out to them in 2004 that Tonga, the star chimp who played Lancelot, was actually alive and well and living in an animal sanctuary (not that he received any credit for that discovery).

Okay, enough monkey-poop flingin'. Let's get swingin'! In the words of Ed Simian, "It'll be a really big shoooo-oooo-ooooooo!"

JESS FRANCO R.I.P.

We've received the sad news today that our beloved Jess Franco has passed early this morning. Last Wednesday Jess was admitted into a hospital in Malaga, Spain after suffering a bad stroke and has been in intensive care treatment since. Now that he is at peace, we can only hope that he's gone on to meet his beloved Lina (who unexpectedly passed on February 15th, 2012) in Heaven.

TRAILER OF THE MOMENT: "THE HAREM" (1967)

Here is the rare theatrical trailer for "The Harem", directed by Marco Ferreri and starring Carroll Baker, Gastone Moschin, Renato Salvatori, Michel Le Royer, William Berger and Clotilde Sakaroff with uncredited appearances by George Hilton, John Phillip Law and Ugo Tognazzi. The trailer features pop-instrumental versions of The Beatles' "Michelle" and The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black". What's interesting is that neither tune actually appears in the movie itself which was scored by legendary soundtrack composter Ennio Morricone.

Please note that the motion on this trailer is slightly jerky looking, unlike the actual movie which looks great.

synopsis: "Ship of Monsters" is an unbelievable science-fiction / comedy / musical / western black & white movie featuring two sexy and stacked space-women (one of whom is Mexican scream-queen Lorna Velazquez) and their whacked-out robot. While on a seemingly innocent spaceship trip to visit Earth the two babes, upon landing, compete for the attention of a happy-go-lucky singing cowboy. Then, one of the women turns out to be an evil vampire bent on world domination! She thaws out a group of 4 insane looking frozen monsters she has hidden away in a nearby cave to do her wicked bidding!
